Although I have never heard of anybody being stung by one, the Tarantula Hawk wasps are said to have a very painful sting. They are a metallic blueish black with red wings and a elongated rear abdomen. The one shown was found in a campground after it died, so it’s a little dried up, missing some legs, and not as shiny as a live one.
